Fine Arts Friday | Robin Voss

I never intended to be a teacher. I was initially a writer/journalist. I have an English Literature degree from Francis Marion and a Masters in Journalism from the University of Georgia. After graduating, I became a newspaper editor near Athens, Georgia and worked there for a few years. Eventually I moved to Atlanta and became a free lance writer and a ghost writer and did that for a while. I started teaching while in my 30's and have taught a variety of subjects, from SAT Verbal to Mythology, to AP Literature, Creative Writing and ELA. In the past several years I have created a photography curriculum that has produced a number of student award winners, both statewide and nationwide. I'm a National Board Certified Teacher and enjoy sharing my passion for photography whenever I can.

I take an artistic approach to photography and teach the students to manipulate camera settings in order to get creative effects, rather than add those effects in Photoshop. In my spare time I'm also a photographer, a ceramic tile installer and a bus driver. I like to hike, kayak and backpack, as well as tend to a bunch of chickens and a couple of dogs.
