2025-2026 Procedures

Welcome to Southside!

Here are a few things that will help you and your child have a great 2025-2026 school year:

Drop-off and Pick-up:

  • There are no student drop-offs before 7:30 AM. Students must remain in their cars until 7:30 AM.

  • Please do not park in the parking lot in the afternoons. Stay in the line. Our car line is about 20-25 minutes long, once school dismisses. Please stay in the car line.

  • Our school day ends at 3:30 PM. All students must be picked up by 4:00 PM. Otherwise, please make arrangements for your child to ride the bus, if they are zoned for Southside. For students who are on an administrative transfer, please note that the administrative transfer will be revoked for a variety of reasons, including late pickups.

  • Absolutely no sign-outs after 3:00 PM. Please make arrangements, and plan accordingly. F1S does provide bus transportation for all students who are zoned for Southside.

  • Students are not permitted to leave their 5th period classes until their names or bus numbers are called for dismissal. Please do not text your student to leave class. This will cause a disciplinary consequence for your student.

Student IDs:

  • ID's are to be worn at all times while at school. Southside provides one free ID per year. If students lose their ID's, the cost is as follows:

    • $10 ($8 for the ID and $2 for the lanyard)

    • All 6th graders must have a school-issued gold lanyard, all 7th graders must have a school-issued royal blue lanyard, and all 8th graders must have a school-issued navy blue lanyard. This helps us to identify students.

  • Temporary IDs are $1 each. There is a disciplinary consequence after the 4th time without an ID. The very first temporary ID is free.

Students must follow the school and F1S dress code:

  • If tights are worn, there must be a shirt to cover the student’s bottom.

  • No rips or holes that are above the student’s fingertips when hands are by the sides.

  • Shorts need to be the appropriate length (rips or holes cannot be above the fingertips when hands are by the sides) for both males and females.

  • If there are rips and holes above the fingertips, tights or shorts must be worn under the pants to cover the skin.

  • Skirts must be worn at the appropriate length (must not be above the fingertips when arms are by the sides).

  • No tank tops or sleeveless tops, unless there is a jacket or sweater worn over the tank top or sleeveless top.

  • Absolutely no strapless tops.

  • No onesies.

  • No clothing that promotes violence, gangs, drugs, tobacco, etc.

  • No head scarves, hats, du-rags, hoods, or any other type of head coverings are permitted inside our building at any time.

Safety and Security:

  • No Stanley cups are allowed. Clear, see-through bottles and cups only.  This is for safety purposes.

  • Rolling backpacks are not permitted without medical documentation.

  • We cannot accept outside food deliveries for students.

  • Students must eat purchased breakfast and breakfast drinks in the cafeteria. They will not be allowed to walk around with these items. EXCEPTION: Students arriving to school on a late bus will be allowed to get breakfast and take to their class to avoid missing further instructional time.

  • Cell phones are not permitted to be powered on or visible at any time during the school day, unless it is for a medical purpose that is documented on file with a doctor’s excuse (e.g. glucose level checks).

  • No headphones, earbuds, airpods, etc. are to be worn at any point in the hallways or in classrooms, unless approved by the classroom teacher.

  • Each student will go through a metal detector in the mornings. Students should take out binders, umbrellas, Chromebooks, airpod cases, eyeglass cases, and any other device that may cause the metal detector to go off. This needs to be done prior to entering the building.

Please contact  your child’s school counselor to schedule teacher conferences:
