Mrs. Carmichael is a native of Florence & a 2012 graduate from West Florence High School. Throughout her years of school, she has always enjoyed how art can be used to express oneself & allows creative thinking. Her favorite art mediums are paint & chalk pastels. She has been teaching at Southside for 5 years & has taught a variety of classes such as Art 1, Fine Arts Academy Art courses, Digital Art, Costume Design, Intro to Art, & 2D art. She teaches an after school sewing club for students wanting to learn the art of sewing and textile art. In 2022, she received an award for Outstanding Young Professional at the Annual SCAEA Conference. Within the community, she has volunteered & costumed multiple Florence Little Theatre productions, such as, "Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express", "Something Rotten", "Plaza Suite", "The Sound of Music", & "The Play that Goes Wrong". For her own personal costuming work, she has won multiple costuming competitions around the east coast such as two first place awards, 2nd place, and an honorable mention for craftsmanship. She has also served as a costuming contest judge for comic conventions in the Charleston Area.

Education

Mrs. Carmichael received her Bachelor's degree in Arts Education from Francis Marion University in 2018 and completed her student teaching at Moore Intermediate School.
